Is it Urticaria?

I’m currently on rinvoq (immunosuppressant) for chronic urticaria combined with eczema. It has been a game changer for me going from 2-3 hours sleep to a full 8 hours. I’ve been on them about a year and had maybe 2 bad flares during stressful periods and the winter always hits hard. My eczema is now mild at worst but it’s just my urticaria that I feel is creeping back.

I’m still sceptical as to wether it is urticaria as my rashes never seem raised or circular like most but go red especially my abdomen, sides, shoulders and neck and then do flake and dry off almost like sunburn.

If it starts with my head and neck I know it’s going to be a bad flare, it makes me feel ill, I get night sweats and raised glands behind my ears almost like it’s an infection.

Just wondered if anyone else gets any other symptoms along with it. Cream does nothing for it, I use menthol cream when it gets onto my shoulders and higher as that cools it down. I just feel like using moisturiser prolongs the healing process as once it’s dry and flakey it’s starts to literally shed and get better.

  1. thanks for sharing! While I hope others in the community who have experienced this will share the own personal experience, I wanted to make sure to encourage you to reach out to your doctor to discuss your symptoms and questions if you haven't done so already! I wanted to share these articles with you about chronic spontaneous urticaria https://chronic-hives.com/living/mast-cells. At the end it mentions a blood test that can be done call at CU index that can help to test for urticaria. I thought this might be something you could ask your doctor about too if you haven't already had this test done! Wishing you relief and reach out if you have any other questions! Warmly, Erin (team member)
